At Vertically Urban, we combine plant science with advanced technology to create Custom Spectrum LED Grow Lights. Our state-of-the-art factory has the latest robotic PU resin encapsulation machines, SMT pick and place machines capable of placing 70,000+ components per hour, laser cutting, 3D printing, and design software.

Our knowledgeable team is experienced in designing and developing products for harsh environments and has gained an extensive understanding of heat extraction techniques and electronics. We also have software and firmware experts capable of designing and coding for the web interface, tablet applications, and IC (integrated circuit) for electronic components.

LEDs

We build our LED grow lights with the latest LED technology.

We are experts in LED know-how, electronic design, system integration, mechanical design, optical design, photon extraction methods, and wavelength spectra blending.

​We work closely with growers and bio-scientists and have in house plant scientists to support horticultural projects.

Bespoke spectral blends

We work on unique lighting recipes to provide bespoke multi-channel wavelength customisation (300nm to 800nm), creating mixes and spectral blends for different crops delivering significant flavour enhancement opportunities.

Because one size doesn’t fit all

We have standard products but understand one size doesn’t fit all, which is why a large part of our manufacturing involves customisation – be it bespoke spectra, form-factor or both. We offer a full turnkey design service to ensure our partners get the perfect product for their needs.

OPTICS

Optics are one of the most important elements of a horticultural LED luminaire.

Their job is to direct and blend the light from LED light sources. We have designed and developed a set of proprietary optics to enhance photon extraction from our LEDs. 

Light for yield

This means our LED grow lights place light where crops need it, which improves canopy penetration – an area where many other products fail.

The result: improved yield in PPFD at the plant level.

Optical enhancement is a crucial design element for our LED grow lights allowing us to generate over 3.4 Umol/J for specific blends of LED wavelengths. 

Protection and preservation

Our optics are efficient and highly water and moisture resistant, as we seal them to IP68 protection.

RESINS

Our high-tech polyurethane resin encapsulation allows us to deliver a set of robust products. We use proprietary PU resin technologies to create a wet location product capable of withstanding high humidity levels.

Unexpected benefits

Our white resins also act as a reflective surface, allowing light reflected from the grow surface to bounce back into the canopy area rather than being absorbed as lost photons, delivering improved lighting efficacy levels.

ELECTRONICS

We design and manufacture LED driver solutions in 0-10v, DMX, and Modbus dimming protocols.

Our LED drivers and systems work with horticultural control systems and can convert signals for PLC, computer controls, or specialist industrial systems.
